Flashback 1992: The L.A. Riots

It was 30 years ago this week which began the 1992 Los Angeles Riots following the acquittals of the policemen who beat Rodney King. (When beaten by the Los Angeles Police Department officers, on March 3, 1991, King was 25. The 10-year anniversary of his death, at age 47, is this June 17.)

According to Wikipedia, the riots played out over six consecutive days, April 29 to May 4, 1992. “When the riots ended, 63 people had been killed, 2,383 had been injured, more than 12,000 had been arrested, and estimates of property damage were over $1 billion.”

The following documentary, with a running time of nearly two hours, is from National Geographic Channel. (It even gives me a warning prompting me to respond before playing the video: “Age-restricted video [based on Community Guidelines]”.) It was published, in 2017, to YouTube. It should be helpful to anyone who may not remember a detail here or there.

‘Sabby’ Removes Jayapal’s Mask

Last Thursday [April 14, 2022], Sabrina Salvati, a.k.a. Sabby Sabs, was one of numerous who responded to the Democratic Party’s Progressive Caucus having recently endorsed corporatist incumbent Shontel Brown over Nina Turner from the state of Ohio.

It did not surprise many of us.

Sabby honed in on Pramila Jayapal, from the state of Washington, who has claimed to want Medicare for All. Want and intend are not the same thing. And in the above clip, which I really appreciate, and it is deserving of this week’s blog topic, the mask comes off Jayapal who—like the rest of the Fraud Squad—is working against the people (especially those who thought they could trust Jayapal and the group).

As Amazon Workers Vote for Union … ‘Available Only for Campaign’ (AOC) Inserts Herself

Last week, Amazon employees in Staten Island, in New York, voted to unionize.

Big credit goes to former Amazon employee Christian Smalls!

Hard Lens Media, and numerous of Progressives Chat’s recommended Videos sources, covered this. But, Available Only for Campaign—as one viewer describes AOC—inserted herself with an attempt to create the impression that she has been actively helpful to the workers in their efforts.

Hard Lens Media did a really good job with this. Its above 23-minute video clip, which includes a viewer’s description of the congresswoman from New York, 14 minutes in, deserves to be noted.

A Slap—and Pfizer—At the Oscars

Last week, Will Smith won the 2021 Oscar for Best Actor for his performance as former tennis coach Richard Williams, the father of professional tennis players and stars Venus and Serena Williams, in director Reinaldo Marcus Green’s film King Richard.

The Oscar talk was not of the winners and/or the quality of the overall presentation of the ceremony. It was focused on Smith, in his response to jokes about his wife and her medical condition, having walked onto the stage to slap and, after he returned to his seat, having further threatened comedian Chris Rock.

More interesting is this: Pfizer was one of the sponsors of the 94th Academy Awards on ABC. Franc Anaylsis has recognized this…and that Pfizer may be developing medication for Apolecia, the condition suffered by Jada Pickett Smith. So, Franco and his panel had their discussion. (It was not their only topic. Video runs 2 hours and 25 minutes. Which may be, while important, too much for some. A related clip, at 12 minutes, follows. These three embedded videos, in this week’s blog topic, combine for three hours.)
