Flashback 1992: The L.A. Riots

It was 30 years ago this week which began the 1992 Los Angeles Riots following the acquittals of the policemen who beat Rodney King. (When beaten by the Los Angeles Police Department officers, on March 3, 1991, King was 25. The 10-year anniversary of his death, at age 47, is this June 17.)

According to Wikipedia, the riots played out over six consecutive days, April 29 to May 4, 1992. “When the riots ended, 63 people had been killed, 2,383 had been injured, more than 12,000 had been arrested, and estimates of property damage were over $1 billion.”

The following documentary, with a running time of nearly two hours, is from National Geographic Channel. (It even gives me a warning prompting me to respond before playing the video: “Age-restricted video [based on Community Guidelines]”.) It was published, in 2017, to YouTube. It should be helpful to anyone who may not remember a detail here or there.
